Electricity trading

We buy and sell electricity on Ukraine's wholesale market — under bilateral contracts, on the day-ahead market and the intraday market. Since 2020, we have united market participants in a balancing group.

What is trading

Electricity resale on the wholesale market

GS-TRADING LLC conducts trading activity under an NEURC license. A trader purchases electricity for resale to other wholesale market participants.

“trader – a business entity that purchases electricity solely for the purpose of its resale, except for sale to a consumer under an electricity supply contract”Law of Ukraine "On the Electricity Market", Article 1(1)(184)

A trader does not supply electricity to end consumers — that requires a separate supply license. Our counterparties are producers, electricity suppliers, traders and other market participants.

Bilateral contracts market

Long- and short-term contracts with fixed or indexed prices and hourly schedules tailored to your profile.

DAM and IDM

Purchase and sale on the Market Operator's day-ahead and intraday markets to optimize your position.

Balancing group

Balance responsible party — since October 2020

The GS-TRADING LLC balancing group brings together market participants (electricity suppliers, universal service providers, producers and consumers) who jointly minimize financial losses from imbalances.

The group's main purpose is to offset hourly deviations between scheduled and actual electricity generation and consumption. Deviations of some participants are covered by opposite deviations of others, so the group as a whole buys far less on the balancing market than each participant would individually.

This is especially important for universal service providers: generation from household renewable installations is hard to forecast, but within the group their imbalances offset each other.

What participants get

  • lower imbalance settlement costs thanks to internal netting
  • hourly schedule monitoring and deviation analytics
  • a transparent procedure for allocating imbalance costs among participants
  • timely mutual settlements within the group
  • a dedicated manager and direct contact with the group team
